What Is Somatropin?

Somatropin is a recombinant form of human growth hormone with the full 191-amino-acid sequence (191aa), produced through recombinant-DNA technology. Unlike most peptides, growth hormone is measured in international units (IU). The accepted conversion is roughly 3 IU per milligram of somatropin, so a 10 IU vial contains about 3.33 mg and a full 100 IU kit equals 10 vials. Understanding this ratio is essential for accurate reconstitution and research maths.

Handling, Reconstitution & Storage

Growth hormone is a delicate protein. Lyophilised vials are stable when kept cold and dry; for reconstitution, bacteriostatic water is added gently against the vial wall (never shaken).
